Mod Select button doesn't work because of Forge Mod Loader

Question

Posted

Launcher Version: 1.0.1.3

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.7.3 Intel Core

Java Version: 1.6.0_31 from Apple

Antivirus Program:

Description of Problem:

The Mod Select button doesn't work. This isn't the same thing as in the Common Problems and Solutions thread, because this is a result of the mod packs using Forge Mod Loader instead of ModLoader. The ModLoader file that the Mod Select button linked to does not exist anymore, so that is why the Mod Select button no longer works.

Mod selecting would be nice. Not game breaking at all. Just nice.

You can mod select. It just involves deleting the mods you don't want. The ones that are integrated into modpack.jar are no more selectable than they used to be, though.

I thought deleting non-essential mod packs would lead to a game crash. Huh. I'm also assuming that the launcher/ Forge Mod Loader doesn't draw from a document of what's activated/ not activated like the previous one that handled what the players wanted.

Nope, mod selection on a server is just removing the mods from the server's mods file, and single-player selection works the same way. Just don't update afterwards, and be aware that removing, say, RedPower Core without removing all the peripherals will cause problems.

Right, right. Excellent. Are we to assume that button will be disappearing in the next incarnation of the launcher?

That's really up to the guys coding and configuring the launcher.
