It runs the down load then stops at a certain percent and the says download failed

Description of Problem:

It strats up, I select any modpack, it downloads and stops at a early percentage like 0-24 then says download failed with a certain percentage. Also i backdated my Minecraft

to 1.2.5. Is there a problem?

There's a reason the Antivirus Program is one of those bits of info we request. It causes this, 8 or 9 times out of 10. You don't need to backdate your Minecraft, either. The launcher does it for you.
