Fails to get past Launcher Version Check, Have tried all common fixes, nothing works.

Question

Posted

Launcher Version: Latest from Website 3.1.2

Operating System: Windows 7 64bit

Java Version: Java 7 Update 5

Antivirus Program: None Installed

Description of Problem:

The instant I run the launcher, it opens the "Checking Launcher Version" bar, then instantly closes. Java doesn't even launch, just creates dllhost.exe and instantly terminates. Have completely uninstalled/reinstalled Java, twice, Have uninstalled all AV programs, Have restarted computer after every install/reinstall. Tried directly replacing the .jar file, but since the file name is different than the one it checks for it just overwrote it, went to the 'Checking Launcher Version' screen, and then closed. Downloaded and replaced the file AGAIN this time changing the name to the correct file name, problem remains unchanged. Have run as administrator, no change.

Have spent 2 hours trying to fix this and I'm completely stumped. Help would be appreciated.

3 things:

1) Are you sure you're using 64-bit Java? Either use "java -version" from a command prompt, or check in your Control Panel > Programs and Features - it should specifically say "64-bit".

2) Do you have an active firewall?

3) Have you tried running the .jar version of the launcher instead of the .exe versions?

Ran the .jar from the .techniclauncher folder, opened right up. Thanks.
