Title: Server connection issues

Version: 3.1.2

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Java Version: 1.7.0_05

Description of Problem:

Me and my friend recently purchased a server at MC Pro hosting, and with their assistance, installed Tekkit on the server. So far, everything works fine for my friend and his friends.. not so much for me. Every single time I join, after a random interval, I'm kicked off the server with the below error message; the exact same error message every single time. I've noticed this only happens at a higher frequency in a certain chunk, near spawn. Otherwise the frequency in which it happens is much less. Before we installed tekkit, I was able to connect fine.

Also, sometimes the chunk just refuses to load, and I'm 'falling' forever.

I've tried multiple fixes for this.. disabling my firewall, updating java to java 7 update 5, and then downgrading to update 2..(I'm since back at 5), resetting my router, unplugging it for 15 minutes.. I've gone through the search function of this forum for similar problems, still no dice for a fix that works.

Error Messages:

Internal Exception: java.net.SocketException: connection reset

This is usually caused by an exceptionally poor connection to the server, on whichever end, or server-side item lag. However:

1) Are you sure you're using 64-bit Java to match your OS. You don't say.

2) Do you have more than 1 copy of Java? Check your Control Panel.

3) Is there anything in or near that chunk that could cause high lag, like item drops in bulk, etc.?

I apologize for not specifying; yes, I am sure I am using 64-bit java in regards to my OS. As to my copies, I have both the 32 bit(for the browser), and of course the 64 bit for everything else. As to my number of copies, I made sure to uninstall java 6 before testing further, and as my control panel states, it is indeed the case it is only running one copy.

The only thing I can think of near the chunk that would cause that much lag is the several blocks of ic2 and buildcraft machinery that my friends have built with.. tanks, pumps, refineries, the works.

That is indeed possible. Try turning your IC2 sounds off - those can cause large quantities of lag.

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately it didn't change much, and I still got the error with the boot. As it might be worth mentioning, my download is supposed to be 3 mb/s, while upload is 1.5 mb/s

Yeah, that's quite slow as modern internet connections go, unfortunately for you.
