Description of Problem:

hi all

just wondering if you can give me some help please, basically Imtrying to download the tekkit 3.1.2 server, but after i download it and try to extract it i keep getting 3 files unable to extract as they are "corrupted". the one file is tekkit.jar, and the launcher isn't working with out it. it may be a simple fix but its really annoying me now and if you can please help it would be greatly appreciated

This is the first time I've ever seen a corrupted download (of the server files), so it's likely on your end. What browser are you using? Do you have an antivirus program and/or firewall that might be causing problems? Have you scanned for viruses recently (usually the AV/firewall will just cause failures to download)?

i have tried downloading it with internet explorer and firefox, i have scanned for virus its free of anything and i have disabled it when downloading it still the same :/

So, what utility are you using to extract them, and have you tried getting a new copy of that? By the way, Internet Explod...I mean Explorer should not be used to download anything. Ever.

i am using winrar, and i have tried using 7zip aswell, ill uninstall winrar and redownload it and check. i literally dont use IE i hate it but tried it just incase

what do you do after you download the tekkit server?it opens up to the file,but how do open the server ?

after i extract the files from the zip file i double click on the launcher.bat file i get an error as tekkit.jar is missing.

You want to put that launch.bat file in the same folder as your server (and the Tekkit.jar that comes with the server). You can add a shortcut to it on your desktop if you're so inclined.

The launcher.bat is in the sane folder. But I can't put tekkit.jar file in there as winrar or 7zip won't extract it as it says the few files in the errors posted up the top are corrupted. This is the predicament that I'm facing.

i open up the zip file, extract it all to a folder, but i cant open the server due to the fact that 3 files in the zip file are corrupted, 1 of them being tekkit.jar

thats the errors i get from winrar and 7zip when trying to extract the files from the zip file

I believe I have had an identical problem, it appears to be a problem outside of your own computer itself: If you download the whole thing multiple times and extract it, each time a different set of files will fail to extract/are corrupt. However, attempting to extract a single file multiple times will result in the set of files that are corrupt to remain constant. After around ~10 attempts I was able to get a single complete download! However all attempts afterwards again failed without me changing anything at my end, so just keep trying until you get a full set of files, and hopefully the server will stabilise at some point .

just putting the error code here if you try and move it manually, hopefully that will help anyone else who gets the error to find this thread: 0x80004005.

i believe it to do with my virgin media super hub as it seems there a load of customers that are posting on there forums about the same issue

Yup. Virgin's having issues at the moment, confirmed. You can phone them up and get them to give you a refund. I was supposed to be launching a server today, that probably won't be happening because I can't get my tekkit working, maybe corrupted :/.

A hotfix I've found with virgin in the past is first, put an attenuator in the system, and if there is one, take it out, then pop the hub in to modem mode for a minute, plug your computer in to port 1 and you'll most likely get no corrupted downloads. Sadly this won't work for me because if I take my attenuator out, the signal goes wild.
