How to disable mining laser modes

Hi.

Recently I found out that mining laser causes lag on my server (scatter mode I think).

I don't want to disable laser, I just want to disable that mode, how can I do that? Or how you guys solve such a problem on your servers ..?

you should try to use bukkit++, I was using it to try and reduce lag on my server and spammed scatter and nukes, seems to work pretty well

but if anyone knows how to disable specific modes please tell us! It would be useful to disable scatter just because it wrecks the landscape!
