commands won't work :S

Hi guys, im having a bit of a problem here, whenever i try to use a command like /give (i have added my name in the ops.txt file and op'ed me in console for good measures) and it gives me this "error" message: "An internal error occurred while attempting to perform this command." any help would be welcomed with arms spread wide open, i'd like to get this sorted fast as i truly need the command after a fail in the server, where we lost all what we had in our inventories :S

does it crash if you try to give yourself a particular block id? try giving yourself some stone (block id 1)
