Stuck on tekkit lancher screen

I am running an alienware m14x r1

8gb of ddr3 1600mhtz ram

3gb ddr3 nvidia gt555m

i7 2760qm @ 2.4ghtz (3.6 turbo)

Description of Problem:

Everytime i load the launcher wether i am using the exe or launching the jar with java se binary it will always stay stuck on the loader screen

I have realized the problem is with the client connecting to the mirrors. i disabled my antivirus and windows firewall so they would not be blocking it, i have nothing like that blocked in my router. any suggestions why?
