Info on Launcher connection?

Antivirus Program: Avast!

Description of Problem:

I am having problems using the Launcher to connect to minecraft.net, as I stated in another post. (sorry if this is then redundant)

So I just wanted to know if someone could please tell me how the connection of the technic launcher differs from that of the normal minecraft launcher, so I might be able to fix my problem on my own.

I just find it weird that the normal Launcher will connect, but the Technic one won't, as they both have all the same permissions.

Also sorry if this is in the wrong section, but there was no clear place to post this elsewhere...
