In the middle of playing the game closes and a document called hs_err_pid4592 appears on my desktop inside is an error log

None only the notepad

It looks like something is going wrong with OpenAL from looking at that log.

I would probably start by updating your Java install, you are three versions behind. Java 7 Update 7 is current as of 9-4-2012. You might also try backing your worlds/saves up, removing, and reinstalling the pack.
