Technic Launcher conflicts with ZoneAlarm

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate

Java Version: 7u6

Antivirus Program: avast

Description of Problem:

Despite being allowed within the checkpoint program settings, Technic launcher will not connect to the internet when run. http://gyazo.com/a8520ed211172664045e71afbd940ac3

Minecraft.exe does not have this issue. Disabling ZoneAlarm fixes the issue, but that isn't a desirable solution.

My Tekkit has the same problem when i open it. it always says that it can't connect despite the fact that i have full bars of internet and normal minecraft can connect. HELP
