Tank not holding fuel

I have set up your standard oil refinery and the oil is going into the tanks fine. After the oil goes though the refinery and gets pumped out the other side with a wooden pipe to stone pipe it goes to the tank and just vanishes. I have seen other people have had the problems and it got fixed by creeper explosions. How do i fix it without the use of creepers?

Break the tank and them replace it?

Break the tank and them replace it?

I have tried breaking them adding the pipe in different places having it come out of the refinery different places and nothing will work. I tried on in creative in a different world and it also wouldn't work.
