Tekkit launching 1.2.5

Description of Problem:

I have just bought Minecraft and downloaded Technic, when i launch tekkit it says 1.2.5 and im 7 versions behind, also when i cant launch vanilla from technic launcher it says update failed. i can launch minecraft and it is version 1.4.2.

so im wandering how do i launch tekkit with the correct version, which i assume is 1.4.2 and not 1.2.5.

You're supposed to be on 1.2.5, there is no higher version

That update notification is just MAtmos complaining, ignore that message
