Falling through world on server Join

Description of Problem:

When I attempt to join my friends SMP server, I spawn in falling endessly for a few seconds, am unable to enter any commands during this period, and disconnect shortly after. This also seems to crash the server.

Everything was running fine up till the server got hit by Sandy, we only just got it back today. Everyone else seems to be able to connect and go from where they left off without any trouble.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have tried re-installing Java and tekkit with no luck, in addition to some reboots. I have also tried putting my video options to low/near

have the server admin backup your player data file and then delete it and see if it fixes the problem, if it does then it is something with the area you were at or something you had, or your player data could have become corupt
