Ticking screen error?

I wanted to get onto my friends server for quite a while and have been searching the internet for a possible fix to the ticking screen error thing and have tried lowering my render distance and everything else. This occurred on the mod pack Mineout 2: Salvation but I don't think it has anything to do with the pack itself.
