cannot log into Tekkit. Launcher unable to authenticate account with minecraft.net

Description of Problem:

I am unable to log into Tekkit as it is unable to authenticate account with minecraft.net

This issue began recently when i installed Minecraft and Tekkit on my new rig. I have now been unable to log into Tekkit for 7 days.

Please note:

The minecraft servers are NOT down - My brother is currently on the server i am trying to access.

My firewall is NOT the issue, neither is the ESET antivirus as my old rig ran ESET and i encountered no conflicts with Tekkit.

My password is correct and active - I am able to log into my account on Minecraft.org

Please accept my apologies if i seem a little tense. I have stared at one too many forums posts suggesting the minecraft servers are down, when they arent.

Please please help.

Did you migrate your account to Mojang instead of just Minecraft and now need to use your email instead of your login name? I've heard of that happening.

Otherwise, it could very well be your antivirus. I realize you don't think it's the issue, but new versions of the same program (the launcher, in this case) can cause AVs to go spastic on you. Try disabling it for the short time it takes to download/log in.
