Modpack not loading correctly

I am trying to help my friend loadup a modpack and it download and then attempts to boot up however it quickly closes and takes him back to the Technic Launcher screen. We are both on Macbooks and mine is working however his is not. We have tried everything that we can think of however we can not figure out how to get it to work.
