Can't connnect to server?

When I try to log onto my brothers server, it says "Unable to connect" underneath the server name.

I've been playing on this server since Christmas day, with this problem a few times but it solved it self. The launcher version I'm using is 1.0.3.4. I'm not sure if you want my Java version, but ask if you want it. Please help as I'm getting really annoyed, I've uninstalled Tekkit a few times.
