Technic Launcher not displaying correctly/no modpack selection/update failed.

Antivirus Program: MSE, Technic Launcher allowed through firewall.

Description of Problem:

I've posted a similar problem before which was fixed by, well, nobody knows.

Upon launching, the launcher is blank (there are boxes, they're all blank, other than the tumblr feed area which shows the "tumblr is down" error).

After blindly choosing (any) modpack, typing in user/pass and hitting login, I get update failed instantly.

I've tried reinstalling technic, java (multiple times), and have gone as far as removing java completely from the registry with every reinstall.

I have had this same exact problem, with apparently few other people experiencing the same issues or being able to provide an explanation.

Description of Problem:

I've had a variety of problems with java as of late, minecraft could only run using a .jar file and previous java runtimes had become corrupt. I assumed that this had messed up the technic launcher as well, seeing as these problems started around the same time; but now I'm not so sure. I've reloaded vista, formatting my computer bar the windows.old folder, downloaded 7u10 x64 and then downloaded the technic launcher again only to be met with the same problems.

The only way of telling which modpack i've chosen is (after a long loading time) the window is renamed with the mod pack eg. " Technic Launcher - 1.0.4.3 - (Tekkit)

Multiple times I have tried to login with my account (same as my username) and it did nothing, however after the format it did show up with my skin (however still did not login).

What I see is as shown here:

I managed to fix this issue by disabling an external firewall set up by my router. If anyone else is experiencing similar problems, then try it and see if it works.
