I'll get random lag spikes when playing, (other players don't appear to have any problems when playing SMP), before getting disconnected due to 'Minecraft running out of memory'. I've gone to Options on the launcher and my list for allocating memory only goes down to 1536 MB, which I have selected. However when I press F3 in game it says that only 247 MB are allocated. I've tried reinstalling the launcher but it's made no difference. My PC has 8GB of RAM and has had no problems with other games.
