Problem with the launcher itself [The 'fixed' launcher exe]

Launcher/pack Version: 0.5.4.9

Operating System: Windows 7 home ultimate

Version of Java: Version 6 Update 31

Description of Problem:

Finding the launcher i was using had stopped working, i first tried deleting my '.techiclauncher' folder in roaming, after this failed to fix my problem i came to the technic website where i found the link for a 'fixed' executable launcher, but now i repeatadly get 'Failed to update!' messages when trying to load tekkit, no error message except for that.

It loops through attempting to download the minecraft.jar 4 times, before giving me that message. I dont know what else to try, what do?

i have had problems with tekkit trying to open it i have uninstalled and reinstalled it 6 times completely reformatted my computer and reinstalled all updates and software from scratch and when i open technic it downloads and then opens a separate window and freezes at the Mojang screen here is my specs also it not my virus protection as i have no virus protection of any kind installed on my computer as i don't go to stupid websites or open files and emails with viruses so i don't need it and it also would not run on my mac which is osx 10.6 i believe i am not sure as i am new to mac computers i tried the jar version and the exe version nether work
