Failed to update Minecraft!

Description of Problem:

when logging in to anything on the latest version of minecraft (1.4.7), it comes up with the failed to update minecraft icon. as a result i cant log in to voltz, custom packs, and i have to disconect to the internet to use tekkit lite and hack/mine, as i have used these in the past before this issue occured.

I have the same problem, dont know if i downloaded the laucher wrong or what??????????
