tekkit server problem please help

Ok, so i have set up a server and it said not enough memory for virtual machine. so i goggled far and wide, and eventually fixed it. so now it says blahblahblah ...6 more. ok, so i goggled far and wide for that. i updated to java 7, and it still doesn't work. so NOW i'm trying to go into my computer and change the path to jre6 to jre7, like I've seen all over Google. so now, i Google THAT and i find tons of tutorials for different operating systems to do it. every one, besides windows XP. i found one for windows7 vista, and 2008. but nope. not XP. please. anyone. and i mean ANYONE. who knows how to do this. i would LOVE YOU FOR EVER. my friends are bugging me to get this up, because i run a popular bukkit server. but everything i Google/do i cant set up this dang server. PLEASE if anyone is out there, and nice enough, do this. please. PLEASE. thank you. c:
