Izurea Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Hi there Posted a thread in the tekkit classic forum but was locked and directed here. I run a server on my computer for me and a few friends but I decided to move it to my laptop to ease up on the pressure on my main computer. The problem I've run into now is this Failed to bind to port Permission denied: Listen failed Things I've allready tried to solve this: Restart server Restart computer Force crash Java.exe and Javax Made sure port is forwarded correctly Tried with and without IP typed into server.properties Uninstalled and reinstalled Java The server aren't running from my main computer either and all Java applications are closed down on both computers I've also ran a netstat to make sure nothing is running on the dedicated port Im not using Hamachi, we are doing it over the web. I would be very happy if anyone had an input on how to solve this =)
Torezu Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Is that error message on the host computer? Is the host computer IP made static? If it can change, that may cause problems. If nothing is showing up as running on the dedicated port, that could cause issues. The port needs to be open, and a correctly port-forwarded setup will show up on a port scan from any of the sites that do that for you. My concern from your end would be how the router treats the incoming connection request from Minecraft clients. Can you connect to the laptop-based server from your desktop? If so, is that done using a local IP address? All these things probably need answered, in one way or another, to troubleshoot your server problem.
