Problems with Java, help!

Hi,

So I was really exited about the new technic, so I downloaded the launcher and it worked fine to begin with, but I had a problem with the broadband so it stopped. Now, whenever I try and run the new launcher, the old one or just plain minecraft, it comes up with the following... a little window labeled Launch4j and it says 'This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0' I close it and it directs me to the Java webpage where I downloaded the latest Java and tried again. I uninstalled Java, technic and minecraft, still doesn't work. I'll pay you a pound (maybe) on paypal if you can fix it!
