Can't access the settings on the launcher

Launcher Version: Latest 242

Operating System: Windows 7

Java Version: java 7 update 21 (64bit)

Antivirus Program: McAfee

Description of Problem:

I can not access the settings in the tekkit launcher after i have launched a modpack once. If i want to change the version I'll have to deleete the launcher, and redownload a new one. Then i can change the version untill i launch the game again.

There are no error messages, the launcher just freezes and i am unable to click on anything once i click the settings icon.

Does anyone have a fix for this? Anything would be much appriciated!
