Industrial Tesla Coil Loot Collector

I have an industrial tesla coil set up and working properly, but I can't seem to get the loot collection. I placed it in the nether next to a blaze spawner to collect blazes. I placed the loot collector so that the beam was shining into the tesla coil, and placed a blaze rod in the filter slot of the loot collector. But while the tesla coil has killed many blazes, I've yet to get a blaze rod from the loot collector.

I'm fairly certain the problem is Item Detection token. Without the coil being told to target items, it wont collect or destroy any items. Once you tell it to detect items it will destroy all dropped items, except the ones you put in loot collector filter for collection.
