I can't download and use modpacks

nananananacat

Question

Launcher Version: 242

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition 32-Bit

Java Version: JRE 7

Antivirus Program: Windows Firewall

Description of Problem:

It tries to download and extract, but when it gets to the extraction part, it shows a negative percent extracted (example:-24398544654%). It doesn't crash, but it loads without mods. When I went and checked on the .zip file it downloaded in the .technic/shapeshifterz/temp/ , it said it was Corrupt or Invalid. I then tried multiple other mods, but they all turned out the same way. Also, can someone tell me how to manually install mods, just in-case.
