Technic Launcher Help

Here's the full story:

I tried connecting to a friend's Tekkit Classic server and it gave me an error saying the server is unreachable. It gave me that error for any server I tried connecting to. I used "Run as Administrator" but that didn't help.

So I tried re-installing. Now, the launcher doesn't show any packs. I don't know where I can get the individual modpacks, and I don't want to waste time if it just shows me the "server unreachable" error again.
