Can't connect to minecraft.net

OK, you've all heard this before... but it's that same old problem, though this time I have allowed it through my firewall (I even disabled it once!).

Here's the funny thing though... even if I go on a command prompt, and enter "ping minecraft.net" it says "request timed out"! Though the Minecraft launcher can still connect to it fine, but technic can't.

I am totally confused. Any hints guys?
