It will play the back ground sounds like birds at day, frogs and crickets at night as well as on hills the wind and when it rains you hear rain. But the vanilla minecraft sounds don't work like mods, walking on blocks and breaking blocks. I have a desktop (Windows 7) with Logitech speakers. Help Please!!! Quote

If you have a normal minecraft install, just copy the sound and music folders from within Resources over to your Tekkit install. Failing that, just delete your Tekkit Resources folder entirely and reinstall. If that doesn't work, submit a full bug report in the appropriate section (i.e. don't post your problems here again) Quote
