Freeze on world load

Description of Problem:

i can load minecraft fine but when i load a world multi or singleplayer it just freezes and waiting does nothing

Error Messages:

none just freeze

I had the exact same problem and I couldn't find a specific solution anywhere, but I did a bit more digging and tried something I got from an answer to a different problem. What I did to solve it was when you first start up the launcher, click the gear in the top right corner, and make sure "increase permgen size" is checked. After that it should run smoothly. This worked for me and I had a seemingly identical problem but I can't guarantee that it will for you.
