A few problems with technic and loading versions

Description of Problem:

Hello, recently downloaded technic launcher again to play tekkit on my new server. When logging in with the launcher, the minecraft which it opens is 1.5.2 and not 1.6 (it asks me to download 1.6 on the main minecraft screen) I am not sure why it isn't the latest version, I have also noticed that on the yogscast latest play through they have a few ores etc that I don't have in my server world, is this due to it notifying 1.6? Hope that is enough info, let me know if you need anymore
