When I place pipes (I've tried it with stone and wood pipes), the game freezes for a moment, then goes to the "saving chunks" screen, as if I had quite, then shows a white screen. If I then reload the world in which I placed the pipe, it starts to load, I get my HUD and then it goes to "Saving chunks" and whitescreens again

Java 6 is the latest available version of Java for Mac (other than the developer's preview) so please don't suggest updating to Java 7!
