Unable to DL ANY modpacks at all

Operating System: Windows 7

Java Version: Latest as of this date (fresh install)

Antivirus Program: AVG

Description of Problem:

no matter what mod-pack i try do download/play from the launcher i either get an error message stating that it cannot open the zip file or the launcher claims the mod-packs download has failed at 14% every time. the main pack i am trying to use is the tekkit pack
