launcher won't download mod packs

Java Version: idk, newest?

Antivirus Program: AVG 2012

Description of Problem:

when i click on "play" on a mod pack, it starts to download a few percent then stops and says "download failed"

the problem was avg, i updated to 2014 and it solved the problem
