Broken Map, need help diagnosing.

Question

Posted

Hello,

A few people and myself have been testing the tekkit server, (which we have immediately grown to love) but, this being minecraft, the broken map has reared its ugly head after a night of experimentation. I believe someone tried their hand at redpower, which I suspect has caused this problem.

Everybody who logs in is essentially lagged out immediately. I have downloaded the map to my machine and tested it locally (running the server) and it shows to be consuming as much CPU as it can.

So I'm trying to diagnose the problem with the map. I have read up on using modloader.cfg to disable mods but the problem is that if I disable mods, I don't seem to get the server to start. Naturally, I can load mcedit to take a look at the map, but right now I would very much like to know which particular mod is causing problems.

With disabled redpower, the server gets to this point:

>Mod Loaded: mod_Railcraft 3.4.2

Adding Material: 189:X189

One further piece of information

We had a very large quary running that was running a body of water.

Is it possible that a large quary in water might be causing the major lag?

I have even tried loading the map in the latest minecraft (after anvil conversion) and interestingly, the map still lags out. Am I drawing too much information by thinking that this might mean it has nothing to do with the mods and more likely related to something in the core (ie water physics or something like that).
