jackmcf555 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) Hello, I have created a custom modpack that me and my friends are using, it works fine for all of us when we just dedicate 2GB of RAM to the modpack but for one of my friends, we set it to 4GB and even then it still says 'out of memory' when he is connecting to the server. I have tried everything I can think of such as launching the launcher from a .bat file. I read in one of the pinned posts that it could be the permgen size and to set it in the settings but this option does not exist. Its not his computer as he has a very powerful gaming pc with 16GB ram. I have installed java 1.8-64bit and I also tried the old java 1.7-64 bit update but they both produce the same results. Also it seems like any modpacks built before the 1.6 update seem to work but only some do after that update. I have searched the forums quite a few times but I cant seem to find anything. Google searches produce the same results where people just assign more ram. If anyone could help it would greatly appreciated! Thanks! EDIT: The modpack currently contains 41 mods, if you need more information please say! Edited April 8, 2014 by jackmcf555
jackmcf555 Posted April 9, 2014 Author Posted April 9, 2014 Update: He can now connect to the server however it is extremely laggy and he still gets the out of memory error when generating a single player world
Torezu Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 It probably is permgen. There's an option to enable it in the menu (gear) in the upper-right corner of the launcher splash screen. This really should have gone in the Tracker, so I'm just going to lock the thread.
