Unable to connect to my local technic server

Operating System:Win 7 home premium 32 bit

Version of Java: 6.0.310.5

Description of Problem: Whenever I launch tekkit using the development build i cant connect my server. I get the message Connection Lost end of stream. However when i use the recommended build it will let me play for usually 3-30mins before it crashes then gives me the error messaget that says minecraft has run out of memory this could be due to a bug or not enough allocated memory. and then a second later it will come up with the windows " Java has stopped working Close or check for solution online

You should move this post over to the Tekkit bugs forum. While you're at it, check the stickies for instructions on where to find your log. It's unlikely that anyone will be able to help you without a log.

On a side note are we still supposed to use the development builds when trying to connect to a server? Because i am able to connect to my server with recommended build active. i just seem to disconnect quite a bit when i do

You're supposed to connect to your server with the same version of the software that your server is using. This should have been obvious.
