Tekkit problem with installing plugins

Okay, so I've tried quite a bit of different tricks to get this all working, but I cannot get a single plug-in to work on the server I use

correctly anyway

I was able to get Essentials installed with the correct version and everything, but EVERY command required OP to access

I assumed I needed permissions, I cannot find a permissions that works with tekkit

I also got Factions on the server but even with OP, it tells me an internal error occurs whenever entering any of the commands
