Sudden issues connecting to server

Question

Posted

Launcher/pack Version: Tekkit 2.1.1

Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

Version of Java: J7u4

Description of Problem: This is not actually a problem I myself experience, but something most of the people who play on my private server have been getting. As of yesterday, connections suddenly stopped working. Before then, there was no problem, but suddenly, the server doesn't even show up as being online for most people, and they can not connect. The only exceptions are myself, and a friend who is able to connect and play without any issues. He is running on OSX Snow Leopard. I've checked to see if my port forwards have changed, as they occasionally do, but there is no problem. There are no attempts to join the server showing up in my command terminal. I've tried to provide as much information as I can, with limited contact to people experiencing them right now.

Error Messages: Connection timed out: connect

Link to pastebin of log: http://pastebin.com/fe6fn4VH (This is NOT my launcher report, but one that I had a player provide immediately after attempting to join)

Since you said most of your players are unable to see the server I premume that means SOME can, so that rules out your firewall, AV or port forwarding as the issue. That leaves it being something about their PC/Client. Have those players remove all java versions from their machines then install java 7 32/64 bit (whichever is appropriate for their OS) and if that doesn't work delete /appdata/roaming/.techniclauncher and rerun the launcher to get a fresh install of tekkit. Make sure they have tekkit NOT technic selected and they are using the recommended build NOT the development build.

You can get them to check they are using tekkit and the recommended build first I guess since that's easiest rather than getting them to reinstall stuff :).

A few people have tried total Technic/Java reinstallations. We're no strangers to having little issues with easy fixes like that. Sadly, no results this time. I'm genuinely baffled as to what could be going wrong.
