  1. Name:VengeanceCube Age:28 What do you wish to accomplish?:I enjoy building powerplants and machines. I'd like to build a smarthome. Have you played IC2 or buildcraft?Yes, quite a bit in the past but it's been about a year what is the purpose of a macerator? To grind ores into dust that can be used in various ways Recommendations(if you been invited):Haven't been invited! Others things i should know:I used to run a small tekkit server myself and couldn't afford it. I miss the days of playing it! I'm interested to try out your community!
  2. While I agree that wasting saws is a bit silly, I don't think anyone in their right mind is wasting UUM on iron!
  3. I am not an expert with this stuff but to me that sounds like a clientside problem. When you run the tekkit launcher you can choose hit the options button to choose how much RAM is allocated by minecraft. Tell him to try increasing that allocation if he's got the ram to do so. I sincerely hope he's not trying to run with integrated graphics. The Java versions could very well be the issue as well.
  4. I've got a tekkit server running on Hostedgameservers. I'm on break at work right now so I'm limited in how much I can do to explain. Simply put I got myself an FTP client like Filezilla and used it to delete most of the folders on my server save for the HTTP and Mumble folders. Oh and don'y delete the HGSbackup folder but delete everything in it. Also don't delete the dynamic link "world." Basically they put your world folder in the HGSbackup folder and use dynamic links to point minecraft there. It's for backup purposes obviously. Once you've deleted all those folders and the files in the root folder, upload your tekkit jar and your mods to a mods folder. Can't remember if that folder got created by the jar. You'll also need to manually unpack the Computercraft zip into a computercraft folder. That's the only one you should have to manually unpack. Then on your server control panel, set the Mod Jar File as "Tekkit.jar" Start your server and WAIT for a few minutes. It needs to create all the necessary files and folders and get itself going. Then make sure to edit your config files to your liking as with any minecraft server. IMPORTANT: Others have told me that they couldn't get it running with small slot counts. I run a six-slot server and never have more than 3 people on at once and it runs fine for me. Someone tried with a 2 or 3 slot server and there was not enough RAM for Tekkit to run. Tekkit uses more juice than vanilla minecraft. Take that into account when you buy your slots. ALSO: You can do all this through their webFTP but you're going to want to gouge out your own eyes after a while. Get an FTP client. Do it. I have to get back to work but if you run into any problems let me know. I'm happy to help. Sorry I didn't answer sooner, I'm not very active on the forums.
  5. I started doing this last night. My only concern with it was that it does use up those handsaws. Thankfully EE is not nerfed on my server and never will be (it's good to be the Admin!) so I'll just transmute my cobble. I'm thinking I'm goint to build an automated rig that feeds cobble to the recycler and pulls scrap out the side. Might combine it with a collector/condensor rig. Sweet sweet quantum...
  6. I've been working mostly with Industrial Craft while my friend has been playing with equivalent exchange. My plan for this weekend was to start hitting Buildcraft and Forestry so I can really begin to automate. I like to ease into things and try new things as I bore. I've found that if I go straight for things like automation the game gets really boring to me. Baby steps...
  7. I like it! I'd pretty much written off wind turbines because of their unpredictability. This is worth it for the cool factor alone! I've been sticking mostly to solars. At least for my practical energy production. And the compact solars have made the space requirements a bit more reasonable at least from a lag perspective. And anyone that complains that the compact solars ruin balance hasn't made many. They take a long time to produce in quantity!
  8. Re: Make a server for me plz If this were reddit you'd have all my upvotes forever.
  9. www.hostedgameservers.com I've used them for nearly a year now and we recently switched to Tekkit. Everything runs swimmingly. They give you full FTP access and SSH access upon request. They have very reasonable rates and give free web hosting and mumble server with your account. I don't know if anyone else there runs tekkit but if you have trouble running it there they are typically very helpful! And I can help you out too. I'm not the most knowledgeable server host out there but I got it running all on my lonesome. EDIT: I just realized they do referrals so if you do decide to go with them, use this link and share the love: *redacted* EDIT 2: After double checking the rules I saw that advertising commercial services is not kosher and while I don't really feel like I'm advertising I thought I'd take my referral link down. Any mods want to comment on this? EDIT 3: EDIT: Someone just messaged me that they tried them out and didn't have enough ram to run Tekkit. I run a six slot server that usually only has two or three people tops online at once. Six slots is around 1GB of ram. Hope that helps those looking into it!
  10. I'm fairly new here but I wanted to say just a bit myself. I too am eagerly anticipating an update. Mostly because I just want the increased build height. That said, I have been having so much fun exploring all these mods have to offer as is. I run a small server for my friends and for us minecraft was more or less dead. Then a few weeks ago I found technic. I can't remember the last good night's sleep I had because of all the damn minecraft dreams I've been having. We can't get enough! Tekkit opened up a huge world to an already huge world. So as we patiently await updates, we're spending our time building and learning. Stop whining about updates and start playing the game to its fullest. I guarantee most of the people here have only scratched the surface of what you can do with these mods. Go become an engineer and build yourself a fully working power grid. Be a magician and craft mighty magical rings of power. Explore the world via jetpack or tunnel through the underground with a tunnel bore machine. All this time you're wasting by bitching and moaning could be spent learning, experiencing, playing. What more could you want? Seriously?
  11. I use HostedGameServers.com They're really affordable and the lag is minimal. They have servers in the US and I believe maybe the UK. Plus they give you FTP access, free web hosting and free mumble. I really like them a lot! EDIT: Someone just messaged me that they tried them out and didn't have enough ram to run Tekkit. I run a six slot server that usually only has two or three people tops online at once. Six slots is around 1GB of ram. Hope that helps those looking into it!
