I've seen many people making really cool computer network thingies (such as Mushnet from the yogscast). How do you all make such cool things?

Is it possible to merge Voltz with Tekkit (lite or classic I don't care)? If so can someone tell me where I can find it (I am a big noob so I'm not very good with this stuff)
