Miraiyu

Hi! Lately I've been recreating Yogscast Duncan's castle, and in one episode he adds a timered red lamp (lights every 2 secs or so?) on the very top of his tower, I've been trying to recreate this but timers and redpower lamps only seem to work if you're within a short range, so if you're standing on ground level you can't see the flashing light. I was wondering if there's a work-around for this?
