Why is this? Just because of plugin support? Is BukkitForge not enough to go on?

What is the recommended way of installing a new update? I know unzipping the update in the working directory (server stopped of course) will overwrite everything, or not update everything. Making a new folder for the update and backing up the old one is too tedious, having to copy over worlds, configs, custom mods, etc. I'm running a linux server by the way. Ubuntu 12.04.

Hello modders, I'm in the process of creating a community website for my server, and I had an idea for an auction house/trading mod for the site. Here it is: WebChest A craftable chest in-game that connects to a MySQL database. The "Auction House" page on my website will pull Owner/Item info from the database. Whatever items a user places in the chest will show in the auction house. Should be fairly simple. If there is anything like it out already, please link me to it. Thanks for reading!
