Is this possible? How hard is this to achieve? Can it be done to a server currently running Tekkit Classic without a new map? Thanks!

I am watching Yogscast Tekkit. I want to play what they're playing. Is Tekkit Classic what I'm looking for? I was a little turned off, confused, etc., when I learned that it uses an older Minecraft to run. Should I be running something else? Thanks!

I'm terribly sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I have just recently started hosting a community of about 5 to 10 people. We LOVED vanilla but I've been dying for Tekkit, so here we are. Now that Tekkit is up and running, the command "/gamerule keepInventory true" does not work and my newblets are dropping items on death, which no one thinks is fun at all. I doubt anyone cares about XP, -so-... How can I get this back on Tekkit? Thanks!
