not sure if it is the same as my issue, but I found that downgrading my java to 1.6 fixed it for me (crashing when trying to launch mod packs) http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/none-of-the-modpacks-will-launch-not-even-vanilla.41045/

I think that is definitely the issue. I was having the same problems with not being able to launch mod packs at all, but after downgrading my Java to 1.6 I have been able to run tekkit lite 3 times in a row successfully.
