It keeps loading vanilla when I have a modpack.jar with forge in it. I have looked and the modpack.jar is next to the minecraft.jar but when it starts up it just ignores the modpack.jar

I have made a modpack I have done what the tutorial says but when I start up Minecraft the things in the modpack.jar file doesn't show up I have checked in the save folder and they are in there but just don't work. I have forge in there and that doesn't work and optifine doesn't work. Any help?
