  1. Okay, I got it. The answer is Malwarebytes. I submitted a ticket to them and we have a back and forth going to fix their product. For the meantime - Malwarebytes - settings - protection tab - Advanced Settings button - Java Protection tab - uncheck all boxes. This is part of their Anti-Exploit protection.
  2. Following up, I've done extensive work and am convinced that it's the technic launcher that isn't working correctly. It has critical errors in the log that are completely wrong, claiming files don't exist in .technic folders when in fact they do exist. I'll attach here my notes and the technic log For instance: [B#355] 2018/03/24 21:20:47 [SEVERE] java.io.FileNotFoundException: File 'C:\Users\Charl\AppData\Roaming\.technic\assets\launcher\OpenSans+Cyberbit.ttf' does not exist [INFO] Starting download of http://launcher.technicpack.net/resources/OpenSans+Cyberbit.ttf, with 3 tries remaining [WARNING] Unable to load users from C:\Users\Charl\AppData\Roaming\.technic\users.json because it does not exist. There's also a lot of "access denied" and that's probably because the laucher causes java to hang per task manager - details. even after closing the launcher javaw.exe persist, can't be "end process" because access denied". it's only until after a computer reboot that the app is cleared. If I run the launcher and do nothing but "end process" the javaw.exe will close, but that's the only time I can do that. Trying to play any mod or hitting X to close on the launch will cause the java to hang. troubleshoot.txt I've spent too much time on this and gotten nowhere. 3. What an astute response from JarriAtmc. With that desire and passion to help people, you should be a helpdesk technician. It might be a recent Geforce driver update, do you have a NVIDIA card? https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1040875/-official-391-24-game-ready-whql-display-driver-feedback-thread-released-3-20-18-/?offset=28
  4. I'm having the same issue. it started as hit and miss, and now is consisitent with all modpacks I try to run. It started this week. After the Technic launcher window closes, during the modpack boot up, sometimes the minecraft window with the forge boot up progress doesn't open. I check my task manager details and see that Javaw.exe is still running and taking up RAM, but no window is opens. I can't <end process> or <end process tree> the javaw.exe it remains persistant and hug, even after user log-out and log-in. Trying to start another game through the launcher gets the same result. the hung java persists until a computer reboot. Let me know what application and log information you want. For now attached is the technic log for today: https://pastebin.com/6x4nN1pF Windows 10 64bit Java 1.8.0_161 NVIDIA's latest drivers for GForce GT 730 I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling java, technic, modpack. I've turned off CCleaner, Malwarbytes, Windows defender. I'll try rolling back GeForce 391.24 Game Ready Driver, maybe this post relates: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1040875/-official-391-24-game-ready-whql-display-driver-feedback-thread-released-3-20-18-/?offset=28 Thanks! Best, Charles
