Why is the server been down, havent beend up for a long time.

Every time I try to join a server it says i need miencraft forge odes anyone know where I can get it and how to install it with this luancher thing?

This may not be with the topic but how do I use the too many iteams in survival mode? Every time I try to use it it wont work.

I have the latest technic pack but everytime I launch it it has to download everything. I also have client version but it says spp on the top. Also is there anyway I can use it by just luanching minecraft?
